Converting LTC to SOL A Personal Experience

Today is November 7th, 2025, and I’ve been actively involved in the cryptocurrency space for about five years now. I’ve always been a fan of both Litecoin (LTC) and Solana (SOL), but recently I decided to shift some of my LTC holdings into SOL, believing in Solana’s long-term potential. I wanted to share my experience, as navigating these swaps can be a little daunting for newcomers.

Why I Chose to Convert LTC to SOL

I initially accumulated LTC back in 2020, attracted by its speed and lower transaction fees compared to Bitcoin. However, I started noticing the incredible growth and innovation happening within the Solana ecosystem. The speed, scalability, and relatively low costs of transactions on Solana really impressed me. I saw opportunities in DeFi and NFTs on Solana that I felt were more promising than what was currently available within the Litecoin network. So, I decided to convert a portion of my LTC – about 5 LTC to be exact – into SOL.

The Exchange Rate Landscape (as of Today)

As of today, November 7th, 2025, the exchange rate is fluctuating, but generally sits around 0.55 SOL per 1 LTC. I did see it dip slightly to 0.52 earlier in the week, and peak at around 0.56. It’s definitely a dynamic rate, and I monitored it closely for a couple of days before making my move. I used several websites to check the rate – CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap, and ChangeNOW – to get a good average and ensure I wasn’t getting a bad deal.

My Chosen Platform: ChangeNOW

I decided to use ChangeNOW for the conversion. I’ve used them before for other swaps, and I appreciate their simplicity and lack of KYC (Know Your Customer) requirements for smaller amounts. I didn’t want to go through the hassle of providing identification for a relatively small transaction. Other platforms like Binance and Kraken also offer LTC/SOL trading pairs, but they require account creation and verification, which I wanted to avoid this time.

The Conversion Process – Step-by-Step

  1. Entered my LTC wallet address: I carefully copied and pasted my Solana wallet address into the designated field on ChangeNOW. Double-checking this address is crucial! A mistake here could mean losing your funds.
  2. Entered my LTC wallet address: I then entered my Litecoin wallet address where the SOL would be sent. Again, I triple-checked this.
  3. Confirmed the estimated rate: ChangeNOW showed me the estimated amount of SOL I would receive based on the current exchange rate. It was approximately 2.75 SOL.
  4. Initiated the transaction: I confirmed the details and initiated the transaction. ChangeNOW provided me with an address to send my 5 LTC.
  5. Sent the LTC: I sent the 5 LTC from my Litecoin wallet to the address provided by ChangeNOW. The transaction took about 10 minutes to confirm on the Litecoin blockchain.
  6. Waited for the SOL: After the LTC transaction confirmed, ChangeNOW automatically started the conversion process. I received the 2.75 SOL in my Solana wallet within about 20 minutes.

Fees and Considerations

ChangeNOW charges a small fee for the conversion, which was around 0.001 SOL in my case. It’s important to factor this fee into your calculations. Also, remember that network fees on both the Litecoin and Solana blockchains apply. These fees were relatively low at the time of my transaction – about $0.50 for LTC and $0.01 for SOL.

Overall Experience

I was very pleased with the entire process. ChangeNOW was straightforward to use, the conversion was quick, and the fees were reasonable. I did spend some time researching the best exchange rate and comparing different platforms, which I highly recommend. The recent news about the SEC delaying approval of some crypto ETFs, including those for Litecoin and Solana, didn’t deter me from making this swap, as I’m focused on the long-term potential of Solana. I’m now exploring DeFi opportunities on the Solana network with my newly acquired SOL!
